Intelligence Gathering, Inquiries, Surveys, Searches and Scrutiny
With regular flow of intelligence, use of information technology, new reporting mechanisms and wide-ranging statutory powers, detecting tax evasion is now far easier for the Income Tax Department. But people are generally ignorant about how income tax authorities conduct investigations, track transactions and detect concealment. Most taxpayers are also ill-informed about why, when and how searches, surveys and scrutiny are conducted for detecting tax evasion.
This book demystifies the entire gamut of income tax investigations in a simple, lucid and interesting style. It explains concepts like black money, tax evasion, money laundering, etc. and educates the public about all aspects of income tax inquiries, surveys, search and seizure operations, and scrutiny — and how best to deal with them. The numerous illustrations present the reader with a better insight into these actions.
The scope and usefulness of the book makes it a must read for all taxpayers and tax professionals, industrialists, businesspeople, traders, dealers, agents, professionals and salaried employees.
